Klartext · official letters, in plain words

Terms of Use

Last updated 18 August 2026

By using Klartext you agree to what follows. If you do not, please do not use the app.

What Klartext is

Klartext reads a photograph of an official letter using an automated language model and explains it in plain language.

What Klartext is not

Klartext is not legal, tax, financial, immigration or medical advice. It is an automated reading aid and it can be wrong, including about dates and amounts. Always check anything that matters against the letter itself, and with the sender or a qualified adviser, before acting or deciding not to act. You remain responsible for meeting your own deadlines.

Acceptable use

Use Klartext for letters you are entitled to read. Do not use it to attempt to break, overload or reverse-engineer the service, and do not use it to process other people's correspondence without their permission.

Availability

The service depends on a network connection and on third parties. It may be interrupted, and features may change or be withdrawn.

Liability

Klartext is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from reliance on an explanation it produced — including missed deadlines, penalties, fees or interest. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Governing law

German law applies, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
